AI coding agents are fast. They'll scaffold a full dashboard in 90 seconds. But look closely at what they produce — it's all the same.
Same gray-50 backgrounds. Same 8px border radius. Same Inter font stack. Same shadow-sm cards floating in the void. Every AI-generated UI converges on this generic SaaS look because agents have no memory of YOUR design decisions.
The fix isn't better prompts. It's giving your agent a persistent design system it reads on every generation.
Google's DESIGN.md approach does exactly this — a machine-readable file in your repo root. Your tokens, your rationale, your component roles. The agent reads it before writing a single line of JSX.
