I tracked gas prices at 12 stations on my commute for 30 days. Here's what I found.

Most people pull into whatever gas station is closest. I used to do the same thing — until I started tracking it.

For 30 days straight, I logged the price per gallon at every station within 2 miles of my daily commute. 12 stations total.

The results were wild:

  • The cheapest and most expensive stations were only 0.8 miles apart

  • The price gap between them averaged $0.37/gallon

  • One station was consistently cheapest Mon-Wed, then jacked prices up on weekends

  • The "brand name" station was cheapest exactly 0 out of 30 days

On a 15-gallon tank, that $0.37 difference is $5.55 per fill-up. Fill up weekly and that's $288/year — just on gas.

Now imagine doing the same thing for groceries. A gallon of milk can vary by $1.50 between stores in the same town. Eggs, bread, chicken — it all adds up.

That's why I built BargainMap. We do the tracking so you don't have to. Real price data, real savings, no guesswork.

If you're a commuter or road tripper who's tired of overpaying, this is for you.
