How I actually stayed profitable through a funded challenge (not the highlight reel version)
Everyone posts the payout screenshot. Nobody posts the 3 weeks before it where you almost blew the account being impatient.
Here's what actually changed things for me:
1. I stopped trading my opinion and started trading my plan.
The account that got funded wasn't the one where I "felt" the market best. It was the one where I had a written invalidation level before I clicked buy, and I respected it every single time β even when I was sure I was right.
2. Daily loss limits saved more accounts than any strategy ever will.
Prop firms fail people on consistency, not on being wrong. A -2% day capped early beats a -6% day you "recovered" from. The recovery trades are what actually get accounts pulled.
3. Journaling every play, win or lose, is what separates traders who plateau from ones who compound.
Not "won/lost" β the actual reasoning at entry. Most bad trades look obviously bad in hindsight only because you never wrote down what you were thinking at the time.
I run a small community now (Batman Picks) where I post every live play with the actual entry/stop/target reasoning in real time, mainly for traders trying to get through their own funded challenges without the ego trades. Happy to answer questions here too if anyone's stuck on the consistency piece β that's the whole game.
