The bed is level. The first layer still fails.

Most hobby printers do not fail because the model is bad. They fail in the first 0.2 mm.


A “level” bed that is 0.1 mm too far on one corner will look fine until layer 3, then the part lifts. A nozzle that is 5° too cold will look like under-extrusion. A dirty PEI sheet will look like a bad STL.


Before you reprint the same file:


  1. Clean the plate with dish soap, not IPA on every brand of sheet.

  2. Run a 1-layer 20 mm square, not a 4-hour print, to read the gap.

  3. Watch the first 30 seconds of extrusion — if it is transparent or stringy, stop. Heat and Z-offset beat more infill.


If the machine still will not hold a first layer after that, it is a setup problem, not a file problem. Fix the machine. Then print the file.
