5 things I wish someone told me when I was in the in-between

There's a specific kind of lost that doesn't look like lost. You're functioning. You're answering emails. You might even be laughing at dinner. But underneath, something shifted and you haven't landed yet.

I spent a long time in that space — after a breakup, after leaving a job I thought was my identity, after losing someone I loved. Here's what I learned the hard way:

1. You don't have to know what's next to be okay right now.

The pressure to have a plan is a trap. Sometimes the most radical thing you can do is just... be in it.

2. Grief isn't just for death.

You can grieve a version of yourself. A future you thought you'd have. A friendship that quietly ended. That grief is real and it deserves space.

3. Creativity is a surprisingly good life raft.

Not "productive" creativity. Not content. I mean the kind where you write something messy in a notebook at 2am or paint something ugly and feel better anyway.

4. Community doesn't mean performing togetherness.

The best communities I've been in were the ones where I could show up half-formed and no one tried to fix me.

5. Being lost is an art.

Seriously. There's a skill to navigating uncertainty without white-knuckling your way through it. It can be practiced. It can even be beautiful.

That's why I started this e-zine. It's a monthly goodie bag — prompts, reflections, tools — for people in the thick of it. If this resonated, come check it out.
