Why most bettors lose (and how to fix it)
The biggest mistake sports bettors make isn't picking the wrong side — it's not having a system.
Most people bet on gut feeling, favorite teams, or whatever the talking heads on TV say. That's gambling, not betting.
Here's what actually moves the needle:
1. Line value over winners. You don't need to pick winners. You need to find lines where the book is off. A team can lose and still be a good bet if you got +7 when the real line should've been +3.
2. Bankroll management. If you're putting 10% of your bankroll on a single play, you're one bad weekend from being out. I never go above 3% on a single play.
3. Data over emotion. Every pick I make runs through matchup data, injury reports, weather, and historical trends. No favorites. No hunches.
