The reason your first message gets ignored (and what to send instead)
Most first messages on dating apps fail for the same reason: they say nothing about the person you matched with.
"Hey" — ignored.
"How's your day?" — ignored.
"You're really pretty" — ignored.
It's not because you're boring. It's because the message is.
Here's what actually works: specificity.
Instead of complimenting someone, notice something. Instead of asking a generic question, reference a real detail from their profile.
For example:
Their bio says they just started running → "Ok be honest — are you a morning runner or a 'I'll go after work and then never go' runner?"
Their photo is at a farmers market → "That looks like a Saturday morning farmers market person. What's the go-to purchase?"
Their prompt says they love cooking → "Cooking person — what's the dish you make when you're actually trying to impress someone?"
Each one takes 30 seconds. Each one references something real. And each one gives the other person something easy to reply to.
That's the entire framework behind the ebook I put together — it's called "First 3 Lines That Change the Chat." It's a system for writing specific openers fast, not spending 20 minutes crafting the perfect message.
If the blank message box makes your brain go quiet, this is for you.
