The thing nobody tells you about long-distance relationships
Everyone says "communication is key" like it's the answer to everything. But here's what they don't tell you:
You can communicate perfectly and still feel lonely.
You can FaceTime every night and still miss them in a way that words can't fix. You can trust each other completely and still spiral at 2am wondering if the distance is slowly pulling you apart.
I've been in an LDR for a while now, and the hardest part isn't the distance — it's the emotional labor of constantly choosing someone you can't touch. It's celebrating milestones through a screen. It's being strong for two people when you barely have energy for one.
Three things I wish someone told me earlier:
Silence doesn't mean something is wrong. Sometimes your person is just tired. Not every quiet day is a red flag.
You're allowed to grieve the "normal" relationship you don't have. Wanting to hold their hand at a coffee shop isn't dramatic — it's human.
Growth doesn't always happen at the same pace. One of you might change faster than the other, and that's okay. What matters is whether you're still choosing each other through it.
If you're going through this right now, I see you. And I'm building a space where we can talk about all of it — no sugarcoating, no toxic positivity. Just real talk from someone in the middle of it.
That space is Between Us. Come hang.
