The 5 mods every BMW M owner should do first

If you just picked up an M3, M4, or M2 — congrats. Now don't mess it up.

Here's the order I'd mod in, and why:

1. Charge pipe upgrade — The stock plastic charge pipe on S55/S58 engines is a ticking time bomb. It WILL blow under boost. $150 fix that saves you from being stranded.

2. Downpipe — Before any tune, get a catted or catless downpipe. You'll unlock 30-50 WHP from this alone.

3. Stage 1 tune — Once the downpipe is in, a flash tune transforms the car. Expect 450-500 WHP on an F80 M3.

4. Intercooler — Heat soak is real, especially on track. Front-mount keeps your IATs consistent.

5. Brake pads + fluid — Stock pads fade after 2 hot laps. Upgraded pads + DOT4 fluid = confidence.

Bonus: Don't do coilovers first. The stock adaptive suspension is genuinely good. If you must, go KW V3s or nothing.

What was your first mod?
