The 3-part live script structure that doubled my Black Friday conversion rate
Ran live sales streams for the past 3 Black Fridays. Here's the structural change that made the biggest difference — sharing it because most creators get this wrong.
The mistake: Most live sellers open with the product. "Hey guys, today we've got this amazing..." — viewers scroll past in the first 3 seconds because there's no reason to stay.
The fix — a 3-part open:
Pattern interrupt (0-3 sec): Say something that can't be predicted. Not "hey guys welcome back" — something like "I almost didn't post this because it's going to sell out in an hour." Curiosity beats politeness every time.
Stakes before product (3-15 sec): Tell viewers what they lose by leaving, not what they gain by staying. "If you're not here in the next 10 minutes you're paying full price on Monday." Loss aversion outperforms value stacking in live formats.
Social proof anchor (15-30 sec): Reference real numbers — units sold, people watching, past sellouts. "Last drop sold 340 units in 40 minutes." Numbers make the offer feel real, not hyped.
After restructuring my opens this way, average view duration went from 45 seconds to just over 3 minutes, and conversion on the first offer roughly doubled.
The hook is only 10% of it though — pricing structure and offer stacking during the stream matter just as much. Happy to answer questions if anyone's prepping scripts for this year's Black Friday drop.
