5 Blender Shortcuts That Will Save You 100+ Hours This Year

If you're learning Blender, you're probably doing things the slow way. Here are 5 shortcuts I wish someone told me when I started:

1. Ctrl+R → Loop Cut

Stop manually placing edge loops. Hover over a face, Ctrl+R, scroll to add more cuts. This alone will 5x your modeling speed.

2. Shift+D → Duplicate in Place

Alt+D gives you a linked duplicate (edit one, they all change). Game-changer for repetitive assets like trees, rocks, or building windows.

3. Numpad . → Focus Selection

Lost in your scene? Select your object and hit Numpad period. Viewport snaps right to it. No more zooming around for 30 seconds.

4. H / Alt+H → Hide & Unhide

Working on complex scenes? Select the stuff blocking your view, press H. It's gone. Alt+H brings everything back. Way better than toggling visibility in the outliner.

5. Ctrl+B → Bevel

The difference between "student project" and "portfolio piece" is usually beveled edges. Select an edge, Ctrl+B, drag. Instant realism.

These are basics, but I see beginners struggle for months without them. If you want to go deeper — structured tutorials, weekly challenges, and real feedback on your work — that's what Blender Underground is for.
