Why most 'same-day flower delivery' promises are lies (and how we actually pull it off)

Ran the numbers on this before starting Bloom Express: most flower delivery services that advertise 'same-day' are really promising next-day with a fast label slapped on it. Here's the actual bottleneck — it's never the driving, it's the sourcing and arranging.

A typical florist places wholesale orders 2-3 days out, builds arrangements in batches overnight, and dispatches on a fixed route. That's fine for weddings. It's useless when a client needs an apology bouquet on their desk by 4pm.

What we changed:

  • Standing relationships with local wholesalers so we can pull stock same-morning, not pre-order

  • A cutoff time (2pm) that's a hard commitment, not a marketing number

  • Arrangers on-call in blocks instead of one overnight batch

The hard part isn't flowers — it's treating delivery like a logistics problem instead of a florist problem. If you've ever needed flowers today and gotten told 'earliest is tomorrow,' that's the gap we built Bloom Express to close.
