The #1 reason you're not gaining muscle (it's not your training)

Most intermediate lifters hit a wall around year 2-3. They add more sets, more exercises, more "intensity techniques" — and wonder why nothing changes.

The answer is almost never more volume. It's recovery debt.

Here's what I see over and over:

  • Sleep under 7 hours → cortisol stays elevated → muscle protein synthesis drops 18-30%

  • Training 6x/week with no deload → accumulated fatigue masks your actual strength

  • Protein intake looks fine on paper but timing and distribution are off

The fix is boring but it works:

  1. Track sleep like you track your lifts. 7.5+ hours minimum.

  2. Program a deload every 4-6 weeks — not when you feel like it, on schedule.

  3. Hit 0.7-1g/lb spread across 4+ meals, with 40g+ in your post-training window.

I break down advanced programming and nutrition strategies like this every week inside Body Blueprint. If you're past the beginner phase and ready to actually optimize, this is for you.
