The 5-Minute Recovery Protocol That Changed Everything
Most people spend 60+ minutes in the gym but zero minutes on recovery. Then they wonder why they're stiff, sore, and broken down by Thursday.
Here's the protocol I use every single day — takes 5 minutes, costs nothing:
1. Percussive therapy on major muscle groups (2 min)
Hit your quads, glutes, traps, and lats. 30 seconds each. Don't float — press into the tissue. The vibration breaks up fascial adhesions that build up from sitting and training.
2. Contract-relax stretching (2 min)
Pick your two tightest areas. Contract the muscle hard for 5 seconds, then relax and sink deeper. Repeat 3x each side. This bypasses your stretch reflex and gives you real range of motion gains.
3. Deep diaphragmatic breathing (1 min)
4 seconds in through the nose, 7 seconds out through the mouth. This shifts you from sympathetic (fight-or-flight) to parasympathetic (rest-and-digest). Your body literally cannot repair tissue in a stressed state.
That's it. Five minutes. Do it daily and within 2 weeks you'll move better, sleep better, and train harder.
Recovery isn't passive. It's a skill. And the people who master it are the ones who stay in the game longest.
