The 3 study mistakes that are killing your grades
Most students study wrong. Not because they're lazy — because nobody taught them how.
After tutoring hundreds of students, here are the 3 patterns I see over and over:
1. Re-reading instead of recall
Highlighting your textbook feels productive. It's not. Your brain learns by retrieving information, not passively scanning it. Close the book and try to explain the concept out loud. If you can't, that's exactly where you need to focus.
2. Studying the easy stuff
We all gravitate toward topics we already know. It feels good. But your grade is determined by the 20% of material you find hardest. Flip your study time — spend 80% on what confuses you.
3. Cramming the night before
Spaced repetition beats cramming every single time. 30 minutes a day for a week > 4 hours the night before. Your brain consolidates during sleep, not during your 2am Red Bull session.
Fix these three things and you'll see results within a week. Not motivation advice — just how memory actually works.
If you want real-time help applying this to your actual coursework, that's what BrainForge is for.
