The 3-step system that actually helps ADHD students survive uni
Most planners don't work for ADHD brains. They assume you can plan a whole week in advance, stick to time blocks, and remember to check them daily. That's not how our brains work.
After years of trial and error (and nearly failing out twice), I figured out a system that works WITH the ADHD brain instead of against it:
1. The Daily Reset (2 minutes)
Every morning, write down only 3 things. Not 10. Not a full schedule. Three things. Your brain can hold three. If you finish them, great — add more. If not, you still won.
2. The Dopamine Checkpoint
After every task, you get a quick win tracker. Sounds basic, but ADHD brains need that visual hit of progress. Crossing things off = dopamine = motivation to keep going.
3. The Weekly Brain Dump
Every Sunday, dump everything in your head onto paper. Assignments, random ideas, anxieties — all of it. Then sort into "this week" and "later." That's it. Your brain finally stops holding everything in working memory.
I turned this into a full digital planner system with templates for each step. New ones drop monthly — exam prep, semester planning, habit tracking.
If your current planner makes you feel worse about yourself, it's not you. It's the planner.
