Why most swing traders get shaken out of perfectly good setups

It's not their entry. It's not their stop. It's that they can't tell the difference between a real move and noise.

Here's what changed how I trade: breadth thrust signals.

When the NYSE breadth data starts moving — when advance/decline ratios shift sharply, when the McClellan Oscillator crosses key thresholds, when $NYMO pushes through extremes — it's telling you something the price chart cannot tell you yet.

Price is the last thing to move. Breadth is first.

A breadth thrust is a specific, measurable event: a large percentage of stocks transitioning from deeply oversold to overbought territory in a compressed timeframe. When that happens, the institutional rotation behind it tends to sustain for weeks — not days.

Here's the three-signal framework I use before entering any swing:

1. $NYMO below -60, then snapping back above 0

This is the "coil and release" pattern. The majority of my best swing entries over the last few years happened within days of this signal firing.

2. Cumulative A/D line holding higher lows while price is still confused

This divergence tells you big money is quietly positioning before the breakout is obvious.

3. McClellan Summation flipping from negative to positive slope

The confirmation that internal momentum has shifted — not just twitched. This is what keeps you in the trade when price wobbles on day 3.

The setups where all three align are rare. When they do, the risk/reward is asymmetric and the holds are clean.

That's what I cover inside Breadth Thrust Pro every week — live coaching calls with the replay vault included. We go through current market internals in real time and map them to actionable swing entries.

If you've been getting stopped out of swing trades that "should have worked," the signal you're missing is almost certainly in the internals.
