The 5 objections that kill 80% of car deals (and the word tracks that save them)

After thousands of AI drill sessions, here's what we've learned about where car deals actually die.

1. "The payment is too high"

This almost never means the number is too high. It means the value isn't built yet. The fix: isolate the gap. "Help me with this — too high for what you can do, or too high for this car?" That one question changes the entire conversation.

2. "I need to talk to my spouse"

Usually a soft stall. The customer likes the car but doesn't feel confident enough to commit alone. Don't fight it. Get them to sell it: "What do you think they're going to love most about it?"

3. "I want to think about it"

Translation: something specific isn't sitting right and they're not telling you what. Your job is to find it. "Totally fair — what's the one thing you'd want to think through most?"

4. "My trade is worth more than that"

They anchored on a number they saw online. Don't argue the number — reframe the conversation around total cost of ownership and the difference, not the trade value in isolation.

5. "I'm shopping another dealer"

They want a reason to buy HERE. Give them one. It's not about price — it's about the experience, the rep, and the certainty.

Reading the word track helps. But saying it when the customer pushes back? That's the part most reps never practice.

We built CarCloser to fix that. 3-minute AI drills, scored feedback, real pressure. One free drill every day.
