If your blankets or scarves keep curling up at the sides no matter how much you block them, it's almost never a blocking problem — it's a tension problem in your foundation row.

Most beginners chain too tightly, then work their first row of single or double crochet into that tight chain. The foundation ends up denser than every row above it, so the fabric pulls inward permanently. No amount of steam blocking fixes a structural tension mismatch.

The fix: either go up one hook size for just your starting chain, or switch to a foundation single crochet (fsc) instead of chain + first row. It builds the base stitch and the chain in one motion, so the tension matches the rest of your fabric automatically.
