1. Track the accidents, don't just clean them

Most cat owners clean up and move on. But if you write down where, when, and what changed that day, patterns show up fast. Maybe it's always on laundry day. Maybe it's after a late feeding. Maybe it started when you moved the litter box.

2. Audit the litter box situation

The general rule: one box per cat, plus one extra. But location matters more than count. If the box is near a loud appliance, in a high-traffic hallway, or next to their food — that could be the whole problem.

3. Look at what changed in the home

New furniture, new partner, new schedule, new scent. Cats are incredibly sensitive to environmental shifts. One small change can trigger weeks of accidents.

4. Build a next-step plan instead of trying everything at once

Enzyme cleaner alone won't solve this. You need a short list of specific changes to make, ranked by what's most likely causing the issue based on your observations.
