The 3-line script that turns a 'still thinking about it' client into a renewal
Ran into this pattern training affiliates on the Client Check-in Bot: most churn doesn't happen at cancellation — it happens 2 weeks earlier, in a check-in that goes ignored.
The fix isn't a better bot. It's the script behind it. Here's the 3-line structure we drill into every new affiliate:
1️⃣ Acknowledge specifically — reference something the client actually said last check-in, not a generic "how's it going."
2️⃣ Name the gap out loud — "You mentioned X was the goal — where are we against that right now?" Silence here is data, not awkwardness.
3️⃣ Offer one next step, not five — a single, concrete action closes 3x more renewals than a menu of options.
Most affiliates skip step 2 because it feels confrontational. It's actually the opposite — clients trust check-ins that don't dodge the real number.
If you're running affiliates on any check-in automation, this is the cheapest lever you're not pulling.
