I made money clipping Coachella content — here's what I learned
Most people think clipping is just chopping up videos and posting them. It's not.
After clipping campaigns for events like Coachella, here's what actually makes the difference between earning $5 and earning $500 on a single campaign:
1. Hook selection is everything
You're not just cutting a random 15-second segment. You're finding the moment that makes someone stop scrolling. A crowd reaction, a surprise guest appearance, an artist going off — those 2-3 seconds at the start decide if your clip gets 500 views or 500K.
2. Platform-native editing wins
A clip that works on TikTok won't hit the same on Reels. Different pacing, different captions, different energy. The top clippers make 3-4 variants of the same moment for different platforms.
3. Timing matters more than talent
Posting within the first 6 hours of a campaign going live is worth more than any editing trick. The algorithm rewards early content.
4. Volume creates data, data creates winners
Post 10 clips, see which format/hook/platform combo works, then double down. Treat it like testing ad creatives.
I'm building ClipVault — a free community where clippers can access campaigns, share strategies, and earn together. If you're already clipping or want to start, come through.
