The 5 AM lie (and what actually builds discipline)
Everyone tells you to wake up at 5 AM. Like that alone is going to fix your life.
Here's the truth: waking up early doesn't matter if you go to bed scrolling at 2 AM. The time you wake up is irrelevant. What matters is the system you build around your day.
Here's what actually works:
1. One non-negotiable per day. Pick one thing ā gym, reading, deep work ā and do it before anything else. Not five things. One.
2. Cut the input. Your brain is drowning in content. Less scrolling, more doing. If it doesn't move you forward, it's holding you back.
3. Track your wins. Not goals ā wins. Write down one thing you did today that your past self would respect. Stack those daily.
4. Get around builders. You become the average of who you surround yourself with. Find people who are actually doing the work, not just talking about it.
5. Protect your energy. Say no more. Sleep more. Stop explaining yourself to people who aren't on your level.
Discipline isn't a morning routine. It's a decision you make every single hour.
