Why most 'live bet alert' feeds die by the 4th quarter

Ran signal feeds through two full NBA seasons before I automated any of it. Here's the pattern I kept seeing (in my own feed and everyone else's):

The 3rd quarter collapse. Alert volume looks great in Q1 — books are still setting lines, live odds are moving, easy signals. By mid-3rd quarter, most manual feeds go quiet. The person running it is tired, distracted, or just can't watch 4-6 games at once anymore. That's exactly when the sharpest live-line movement happens (foul trouble, blowout garbage-time totals, injury runs).

The fix isn't "watch harder." It's removing yourself from the monitoring loop entirely:

  • Alert triggers should key off line movement thresholds, not eyeballs on a screen

  • Your message templates need to be pre-built so there's zero drafting lag between signal and send

  • A fulfillment checklist (pre-game setup → live monitoring → post-game recap) keeps the process identical every single night, whether it's night 1 or night 60 of the season

The feeds that last a full season are the ones running on a system, not a person's attention span. If you're running a signal feed manually right now, the biggest ROI move you can make isn't finding "better picks" — it's fixing the 3rd quarter drop-off.
