5 things killing your local business website (and what to do instead)

I've built sites for dozens of local businesses — restaurants, barbershops, gyms, contractors — and I see the same mistakes over and over.

1. Your site takes more than 3 seconds to load.

Google says 53% of mobile visitors leave if a page takes longer than 3 seconds. Most local biz sites are built on bloated templates. Speed = money.

2. There's no clear call-to-action above the fold.

If someone lands on your site and can't immediately book, call, or order within the first screen they see — you're losing them. "Welcome to our website" is not a CTA.

3. You're not showing up on Google Maps.

Your website and your Google Business Profile need to talk to each other. Proper schema markup, consistent NAP (name, address, phone), and embedded maps are the basics most sites miss.

4. No mobile optimization.

Over 60% of local searches happen on phones. If your menu, booking form, or contact info doesn't work perfectly on mobile, you're invisible to the majority of your potential customers.

5. You built it once and never touched it again.

A website isn't a billboard — it's a living sales tool. Monthly content updates, fresh photos, seasonal promos, and speed optimization keep you ranking and converting.

If any of these sound familiar, that's exactly what we fix at Cr8tv Studios. We build fast, conversion-focused websites for local businesses and keep them running month over month.
