Your episode is not the product. The clip is.

Most podcasts I get sent have a good conversation trapped in a 47-minute file nobody will ever finish.

The host recorded. They even posted the episode. Then they stared at a timeline for twenty minutes, closed Premiere, and told themselves they'd "cut clips this weekend."

Weekend never comes. The RSS feed is an archive. Discovery happens in 15 seconds on a phone.

How I pick the five clips from a full episode:

  • Open on a sentence that would make a stranger argue. Not a greeting. Not "today we talk about."

  • Cut before the guest warms up. The first real opinion is usually minute 8, not minute 1.

  • One clip per idea. If you need a preamble to understand it, it is not a clip.

  • Captions carry the point even on mute. If the text doesn't stand alone, the cut is wrong.

  • End on the line you'd screenshot. Not a fade. Not "anyway…"

That's the package: one clean episode + five clips built to travel. If you're sitting on raw files, send them.
