Every 7-figure commercial roof I've seen has three jobs living inside it.

Version 1 lives with the estimator. Tight takeoff, clean numbers, the bid the GC signed.

Version 2 lives with the PM. Texts, photos from the site walk, a change order that never made it back into the spreadsheet.

Version 3 lives with the crew. What's actually on the roof this morning — which is never quite either of the first two.

The stall isn't labor. It's the gap between those three.

What to do this week, even if you change no software:

1. One source of truth for scope. If a change order isn't in that file, it doesn't exist.

2. The crew lead sees the same numbers the estimator used. Not a summary. The numbers.

3. Daily status is written once, in one place, before anyone calls the GC.

Firms that do this stop losing half-days to "wait, which drawing?" Firms that don't keep paying for the same job three times.
