The 5 mistakes I see every crypto beginner make (and how to avoid them)
I've been in crypto since 2017 and I've watched thousands of beginners make the same costly mistakes. Here's what I wish someone told me on day one:
1. Buying based on hype, not fundamentals. If you can't explain what a coin does in one sentence, you shouldn't own it. Start with Bitcoin and Ethereum — understand them deeply before touching anything else.
2. Not using a hardware wallet. If your crypto is on an exchange, it's not really yours. A $60 Ledger can save you from losing everything. Set it up on day one.
3. Trying to time the market. You're not going to buy the bottom and sell the top. Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) outperforms 95% of traders over time. Set a weekly buy and forget about it.
4. Ignoring gas fees. Moving small amounts of ETH around can cost you more in fees than the amount itself. Learn when fees are low and batch your transactions.
5. Going all-in on one coin. Diversification isn't just for stocks. Spread your risk across 3-5 solid projects instead of betting everything on the next "100x gem."
I built CryptoVault Academy to help complete beginners avoid exactly these mistakes. If you're just getting started, this is the community for you.
