The 3 training mistakes killing your gains (and what to do instead)

Most guys train 5-6 days a week and still look the same after a year. Here's why:

Mistake 1: Program hopping. You do PPL for 3 weeks, switch to bro split, try Upper/Lower, then back to PPL. Your muscles never adapt because you never give a program enough time. Stick with one program for 8-12 weeks minimum. Progressive overload only works if you're consistent enough to track it.

Mistake 2: Junk volume. 30 sets per muscle group isn't "working harder" — it's just fatiguing yourself past the point of recovery. Most natural lifters grow optimally on 10-15 hard sets per muscle per week. Cut the fluff, push the sets that matter.

Mistake 3: Ignoring the boring stuff. Sleep, water, protein timing, deload weeks. Nobody wants to talk about sleeping 8 hours, but it's more anabolic than any supplement you're taking.

Inside Discipline Club, every program is built around these principles — structured progression, smart volume, and no BS. If you're tired of spinning your wheels, the door's open.

The beginner workout mistake that's killing your gains

Most guys starting out in the gym make the same mistake: they train chest and arms 4x a week and skip everything else.

Here's the truth — if you're a beginner, you don't need a bro split. You need a full-body program 3x a week that focuses on compound movements:

  • Squats — builds your entire lower body and core

  • Bench Press — chest, shoulders, triceps in one movement

  • Barbell Rows — back thickness and posture

  • Overhead Press — shoulders and upper chest

  • Deadlifts — posterior chain, grip, everything

Hit these 3 days a week, eat in a slight surplus with 1g protein per lb of bodyweight, sleep 7-8 hours, and you'll put on more muscle in 3 months than most guys do in a year of random workouts.

Stop program hopping. Pick a plan and stick to it for 12 weeks minimum.
