Been building out a phone case/accessory store the last few weeks and wanted to share a few things I learned that aren't obvious when you first start:
1. Case fit data matters more than design. Half of returns in this niche aren't about quality ā they're wrong-model orders. If you're sourcing cases, get exact model compatibility charts from your supplier before you list anything, not after.
2. "Trendy" moves fast. A design that's hot on TikTok this month can be dead in 6 weeks. I'm running small batch drops instead of one static catalog ā keeps inventory risk low and gives people a reason to check back.
3. Bundling beats single SKUs. A single case sells worse than a case + cable organizer + grip bundle at a slightly higher price. Perceived value jumps more than the cost does.
4. Community > one-off checkout. Instead of just a storefront, I set up a members chat for buyers ā same drop info, but it turns one-time buyers into repeat customers who actually come back for the next drop.
Still early, but curious if other dropshippers here are seeing the same patterns or doing something different with sourcing/retention.
