Leather seats do not crack from age. They crack from this.
People blame "old leather." Most of the time the seat is dry, cooked, and cleaned with the wrong stuff.
Heat and UV pull the oils out. Cheap all-purpose cleaner strips what is left. Then the first deep sit in summer splits the hide at the bolsters — usually the driver's outer side first.
What actually works:
Vacuum the grain. Grit acts like sandpaper every time you sit down.
Wipe with a pH-neutral leather cleaner. Not dish soap. Not interior shine spray.
Condition when the leather feels matte and thirsty, not on a schedule you copied from a forum.
Park out of direct sun when you can. A sunshade is cheaper than a re-dye.
If the leather already looks grey and dusty, it is past "a wipe." Condition first, then decide if you even need a shop.
That is the standard I use on newer and luxury interiors. Same logic applies to Alcantara, paint, and tires — treat the material, do not drown it.
