The 5 things every first-time store owner gets wrong

I've built over 50 e-commerce stores in the last 3 years. Every single beginner makes the same mistakes.

1. Too many products at launch. Start with 3-5. Nail the product pages, then expand. Your conversion rate will thank you.

2. Ignoring mobile. 70%+ of your traffic will come from phones. If your store looks off on mobile, you're burning money.

3. No trust signals. Reviews, secure checkout badges, clear return policies — these aren't optional. They're the difference between a bounce and a sale.

4. Generic product descriptions. Stop copy-pasting from your supplier. Write descriptions that speak to your customer's pain points, not features.

5. Launching without a traffic plan. Your store isn't "if you build it, they will come." Before you go live, have a plan: organic content, paid ads, influencer outreach — pick at least one.

If you're building your first store and want it done right from day one, check out what we offer at Ecom Architects. We handle the build so you can focus on growing.
