The 5AM myth and what actually builds discipline

Everyone tells you to wake up at 5AM. Cold showers. No phone. Meditate for an hour.

Here's the truth: none of that matters if you can't keep a promise to yourself for more than 3 days.

Discipline isn't about doing hard things. It's about doing boring things consistently. The guy who goes to the gym 4x a week for a year will always beat the guy who does a 30-day challenge and burns out.

Here's what actually works:

Start stupidly small. Want to read more? Read 2 pages. Want to work out? Do 5 pushups. Your brain needs to trust that you'll follow through before it'll let you scale up.

Track streaks, not goals. Goals are future-focused. Streaks are about today. "Did I do the thing?" Yes or no. That's it.

Remove decisions. Lay out your clothes. Meal prep. Set alarms. Every decision you eliminate is willpower you save for what matters.

Find one person who's watching. Not an accountability partner who "checks in." Someone who will actually call you out. Shame is an underrated motivator.

The guys who figure this out in their early 20s have a 10-year head start on everyone else. Don't waste it.

I broke all of this down in detail in The Discipline Blueprint — the full system, the daily framework, the mindset shifts. If you're serious about it, it's there for you.
