Appetite in perimenopause is information, not a failure
A lot of women in their 40s treat a sudden hunger spike like proof they “fell off.”
That framing is the problem.
Appetite, energy, and cravings shift in perimenopause. Sleep changes. Stress hits harder. A meal that used to keep you full until dinner now lasts until 3pm. None of that means you need a new diet. It means the old rigid plan was never built for a body that is changing week to week.
What works instead:
Name the day. Lighter, standard, or more substantial. Choose the meal size that matches today.
Anchor protein and fiber first. Satisfaction is a skill, not a calorie target.
Keep a short list of meals you can actually cook when you are tired. Three is enough to start.
After a disrupted day, eat the next regular meal. Do not skip. Do not “make up for it.”
If you have been restarting every Monday, stop. The restart is the thing exhausting you.
I wrote a short ebook on this system — meals that satisfy without counting. It is on the store if you want the full framework and the 14-day practice.
