Why I built a game server manager instead of paying $30/month to rent someone else's machine

I ran a Minecraft server for a friend group for years. At some point we expanded to Valheim, then ARK, then a modded Fabric server. Before I knew it I was juggling four different hosting panels, three SSH sessions, and a Google Doc tracking which server was on which VPS.

The existing game server hosts are convenient — until they're not. Premium prices for hardware you don't own, no real visibility into what's happening, and no custom setups without jumping through hoops.

So I switched to self-hosting. Cheap dedicated box, full control, more RAM per dollar, no artificial limits.

The problem: managing it was a mess. Restarts done manually. Backups were cron jobs I wrote and forgot about. Monitoring was "SSH in and check." Adding a server meant 45 minutes of setup I'd have to redo from scratch.

That's what Esluce fixes.

It's an orchestration layer that sits on top of your own machines. You connect them through a lightweight agent, and from there you get:

  • One-click deployments (Minecraft, Valheim, ARK, and more)

  • Start/stop/restart from a dashboard — no SSH needed

  • Scheduled backups and automatic restart policies

  • Real-time logs and alerts

  • Custom domain routing

You own the hardware. You control everything. Esluce removes the operational overhead so you can actually spend time playing instead of babysitting servers.
