Most wedding planning guides are overwhelming. 47-page PDFs full of tasks that make you feel behind before you even start.

Here's what actually matters, month by month:

12-9 months out: Set your budget (be honest), pick your venue, and book your photographer. That's it. Everything else can wait.

8-6 months out: Lock in your caterer, DJ/band, and florist. Start your guest list — warning: this is where couples fight the most. Set a number and stick to it.

5-3 months out: Invitations go out, finalize your menu, and do dress/suit fittings. Book your officiant if you haven't.

2-1 months out: Seating chart, final vendor confirmations, write your vows (don't procrastinate this one), and do your rehearsal.

Week of: Delegate everything. Seriously. Your only job on the wedding day is to show up and enjoy it.

The biggest mistake I see? Trying to do everything at once in month one, then burning out by month three.
