Most policy coverage treats religion as a footnote. That's a mistake.

Whether it's education reform, foreign policy realignments, or the quiet regulatory shifts affecting religious institutions — faith isn't just part of the conversation. It's driving it.

Here are three things I'm watching closely:

1. Religious exemption laws are expanding — but not equally. The legal framework for religious exemptions is being rewritten in real time. Who benefits and who gets left out tells you everything about where power actually sits.

2. Foreign policy is increasingly shaped by religious constituencies. From aid allocation to diplomatic recognition, faith-based lobbying has more influence than most people realize. The question isn't whether religion shapes foreign policy — it's which religion, and whose interpretation.

3. Education policy is the sleeper issue. Curriculum battles, school choice legislation, and funding for religious schools are accelerating. This is where the next generation's relationship with faith and state gets decided.
