A few things I've learned the hard way, for anyone who wants to try this themselves:

• Verify on 2+ independent sources before you trust a rate is real and not just a display bug on your end.

• Screenshot everything with timestamps — your paper trail matters if a rate-honor question ever comes up.

• Don't blast it on social media the second you find it. Public virality is usually what gets an error fare corrected in minutes instead of hours.

• Always have a backup plan. Never make an error fare your only option for a trip with zero flexibility.

• Pay with a card earning transferable points, not a co-branded hotel card — it keeps your upside flexible.
