YouTube taught me chain stitch three times. I still dropped the loop.
Most crochet videos assume you already know how to hold the yarn.
They say “yarn over” and the camera is already on the next stitch. Your left hand is lost. The loop is gone. You rewind. You rewind again. Then you close the tab.
That is not a you problem. It is a camera problem.
A hook is a 3D tool. The yarn sits behind the shaft, then over it, then through a loop you cannot see from one angle. A 2D video flattens the one thing you actually need: where the yarn is in space.
FirstLoop is built for that gap. Slow. Pauseable. You can rotate the stitch.
If you have a hook in a drawer and a half-started YouTube tutorial you abandoned, start with the slip knot and do not skip the hold. The hold is the whole class.
