Let's get more awareness on fishing.
Let's get more awareness on fishing.
I've been fishing for years, and I see the same three mistakes every time I'm at the lake:
1. Using barbed hooks when they don't need to.
Barbed hooks cause way more tissue damage. If you're not keeping the fish, switch to barbless. The release is cleaner, faster, and the fish actually survives. Most beginners don't even know this is an option.
2. Ignoring local bag limits and seasons.
These aren't arbitrary rules. They're based on population data. Fishing during spawning season or keeping undersized fish can collapse a local population in just a few years.
3. Leaving line and tackle behind.
Monofilament takes 600 years to decompose. Birds, turtles, and fish get tangled in it constantly. Always pack out what you bring in — and pick up what others leave behind.
I built Fishing Awareness to help beginners skip the learning curve and fish responsibly from day one. If this resonates, check it out.
