Adding your favorite website to your phone's home screen is a total game-changer. It turns a URL into a "web app," giving you one-tap access without having to open your browser and dig through tabs.

Here is how to do it on both iPhone and Android.

For iPhone (Safari)

Apple keeps this feature tucked away in the "Share" menu. Note that this generally works best using the native Safari browser.

  1. Open Safari and navigate to the website you want to save.

  2. Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing up) at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Scroll down the list of options and tap Add to Home Screen.

  4. Give the shortcut a name (keep it short so it doesn't get cut off).

  5. Tap Add in the top-right corner.

Pro Tip: If you don't see "Add to Home Screen," scroll to the very bottom of the share sheet and tap "Edit Actions" to make sure it’s enabled.

For Android (Chrome)

On Android, Google Chrome makes this process incredibly seamless.

  1. Open Chrome and go to the webpage.

  2. Tap the three vertical dots (menu) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Add to Home screen.

  4. Enter a name for the shortcut.

  5. Tap Add, then tap Add to home screen again (or drag the icon manually to your preferred spot).

Why do this?

  • Speed: Skip the address bar entirely.

  • Cleanliness: Keep your browser tabs for temporary searches and your home screen for your daily "must-haves."

  • Full-Screen Experience: Some websites are designed as Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). When you add these to your home screen, they often open without the browser's URL bar at the top, making them feel like a real app.
