The editing mistake that's killing your content
Most creators lose viewers in the first 3 seconds — not because their hook is bad, but because their edit is too slow.
Here's what I mean: if you're still doing L-cuts and J-cuts manually frame by frame, you're spending hours on something that should take minutes. The best editors I know all have one thing in common — they build systems, not just timelines.
3 things that instantly make any edit better:
Cut on action, not on silence. Every cut should happen during movement. Your viewer's eye is already tracking motion — use that to mask the edit.
Use sound design as a crutch. A swoosh, a bass hit, even a subtle room tone shift makes a rough cut feel polished. Most creators skip this entirely.
Color grade LAST, not first. I see so many editors start with a LUT and then wonder why their footage looks off. Get your exposure and white balance locked, then grade.
These aren't advanced techniques. They're fundamentals that 90% of self-editing creators skip because nobody taught them properly.
That's exactly why I built Flexad — a community where creators learn to edit like pros without spending years figuring it out alone.
