The 3-Minute Drill That Fixed My Timing (Try It Tonight)
Most people think they can't dance because they "have no rhythm." That's almost never true. You just haven't trained your body to listen yet.
Here's a simple drill I give every new student. It takes 3 minutes and you'll feel the difference immediately.
The Drill
Step 1 — Pick any song you love. Doesn't matter the genre. Something with a clear beat.
Step 2 — Just clap on beat. Not on every sound — find the steady pulse underneath everything. Clap along for 30 seconds. If you lose it, pause and find it again.
Step 3 — Transfer that clap to your feet. Step in place, right-left-right-left, matching those same beats. Don't think about looking good. Just match the rhythm.
Step 4 — Add one thing. A shoulder roll. A head nod. A hip shift. Just one layer on top of the stepping. Keep the feet steady.
That's it. 3 minutes. Do this every day for a week and you'll be shocked at how much more natural movement starts to feel.
Why it works
Most beginners try to learn full choreography before they've built a rhythm foundation. It's like trying to write essays before you know the alphabet. This drill builds the connection between your ears and your body — which is the actual skill behind every good dancer.
If you want structured training that builds on drills like this — week by week, from foundations through choreography — that's exactly what I built FlowMotion for.
