Why your plantar fasciitis isn't healing (and what actually works)

Most people with plantar fasciitis do the same three things:

  1. Ice it

  2. Rest it

  3. Stretch the calf

And then wonder why it keeps coming back every morning.

Here's the thing — plantar fasciitis isn't just a heel problem. It's almost always a load management + foot mechanics problem. You're either overloading tissue that isn't strong enough to handle it, or compensating in a way that keeps it perpetually irritated.

What actually moves the needle:

Progressive loading, not just rest. The fascia needs controlled stress to remodel. Complete rest weakens it further.

Intrinsic foot strengthening. The small muscles inside your foot — the ones nobody trains — are often the missing piece. Towel scrunches, short foot exercises, single-leg calf raises on a step.

Gait and footwear audit. How you walk and what you wear matters more than most people think. Over-cushioned shoes can actually make things worse long-term.

Timing of stretching matters. Stretching cold, first thing in the morning before preparing the tissue = daily microtrauma that slows healing.

I built FootFix Pro to walk people through exactly this — step by step, condition by condition. Happy to answer questions below.
