The system that took me from scattered to shipping every day
Most founders don't have a time problem. They have a decision problem.
Every morning you sit down and think "what should I work on?" — and that question alone costs you 30-60 minutes of your best energy. Multiply that by 5 days and you've burned an entire workday just deciding what to do.
Here's the fix I use:
The 3-1-1 System:
At the end of each day, write down 3 tasks for tomorrow
Pick the 1 that would hurt most if it didn't get done
Do that 1 thing first, before checking anything else
That's it. No Notion template. No color-coded calendar. Just a forcing function that eliminates the morning decision tax.
The key insight: you're not choosing what to work on. You're choosing what to ignore. The 3-1-1 forces that trade-off before you're in the fog of the day.
I've been running Founder Focus to share more systems like this — weekly breakdowns of what actually works for solo founders trying to scale past $10k/mo. If that's you, come check it out.
