Why developers are the best-positioned freelancers right now
Every business needs tech. Most can't afford a full-time developer. That gap is your opportunity.
The freelance dev market is insane right now. Companies are paying $50-150/hr for skills that thousands of self-taught devs already have — they just don't know how to sell them.
Here's what I've learned:
1. You don't need to be a senior engineer.
If you can build a landing page, set up an AI chatbot, automate a workflow, or integrate APIs — that's enough. Small businesses will pay serious money for things you consider "basic."
2. Stop applying on Upwork like everyone else.
The devs making real money aren't competing on price in a race to the bottom. They're DMing business owners directly, showing them what's broken on their site, and offering to fix it. One good cold DM beats 50 Upwork proposals.
3. AI skills are a multiplier.
If you can build with AI tools — custom GPTs, automation workflows, AI integrations — you're in a category with almost no competition. Businesses are desperate for this and most devs haven't positioned themselves here yet.
I built Freelance Blueprint specifically for developers and AI specialists who have the skills but not the clients. No fluff — just the system that works.
