Why 7-day billing beats 30-day billing for trial funnels (and the exact settings)
Most creators default to monthly billing because it's the "normal" choice. For trial-based funnels, it's usually the wrong one. Here's the math:
The problem with monthly + trial:
A 3-day trial into a 30-day billing cycle means you get exactly one shot to prove value before the member has to decide. If life gets busy that week, they forget your product exists — then the renewal charge feels like a surprise, and they dispute or cancel.
Why weekly billing fixes this:
Members re-engage with your value prop 4x more often before any real financial commitment compounds
Smaller charge size ($X/week vs $4X/month) reduces the psychological "is this worth it" friction at renewal
You get 4 feedback loops a month instead of 1 — faster signal on what's driving churn
The exact Whop setup (takes 2 minutes):
Go to your Product → Pricing tab → Create/Edit Plan
Set Plan type = Renewal
Set Billing period = 7 days
Set your Renewal price
Under trial settings, set Free trial = 1 day (this is set at the plan/checkout level, not the product level — easy to miss)
Save — your purchase URL now enforces this automatically on every checkout
One overlooked detail: the trial length and billing period are two separate fields. You can run a 1-day trial on a 7-day cycle, or a 3-day trial on a 30-day cycle — match the ratio to how fast your product proves value. If members see results in a day, don't make them wait a week to renew.
Happy to break down churn tactics for weekly cycles in the comments if useful.
