How NFC clothing is changing fashion forever (and how to build your own brand)

Most fashion brands compete on aesthetics. A few compete on price. Almost nobody competes on experience.

That's the gap.

In 2021, I started experimenting with embedding NFC chips and QR codes into clothing. Tap a hoodie with your phone, and it opens a Spotify playlist. Scan a tee, and it plays an exclusive music video. The garment becomes a portal.

The result? GOATEDLINK β€” a brand where every piece of clothing connects you to sound.

Here's what I learned building it:

1. The tech is simpler than you think

NFC tags cost €0.10-0.30 each. You can program them with a free app. The barrier to entry isn't technology β€” it's imagination.

2. Artists and musicians are starving for new distribution

When I pitched "wear your music" to independent artists, they didn't need convincing. They needed someone to show them how. That's where the real business model is β€” B2B partnerships, not just consumer sales.

3. The storytelling sells itself

People don't buy interactive clothing because they need another t-shirt. They buy it because they've never seen anything like it. Your marketing writes itself when the product IS the content.

I packed everything I know β€” sourcing, tech setup, manufacturing, launch strategy β€” into a masterclass for creative entrepreneurs who want to build at the intersection of fashion, music, and technology.

If you're sitting on a concept and don't know how to make it real, this is your starting point.
