The truth about "repairing" bleached or over-treated hair
Here's something I wish more people knew before their appointment: once hair is chemically damaged, you cannot fully reverse it with a product. Bond-builders, proteins, and deep conditioners can improve strength and manageability, but the damaged portion of the strand stays damaged until it's cut or grown out.
What actually helps in the meantime:
Bond-building treatments (in-salon or at-home) before and after any chemical service, not just after
Protein/moisture balance — over-proteinizing damaged hair makes it stiffer and more prone to snapping
Spacing out chemical services by at least 8-10 weeks so the scalp and strand get recovery time
Being honest with your stylist about your hair's real history, including box dye and old keratin treatments — this changes what's safe to do next
If you're trying to figure out whether you're a good candidate for color correction, extensions, or your next treatment, that's exactly what I help people work through. Happy to answer questions here too.
