Why handmade will always beat mass-produced

I've been making things by hand for years, and people always ask: "Why not just buy it from a store?"

Here's the thing — when you hold a handmade piece, you can feel the hours that went into it. The slight imperfections aren't flaws. They're proof that a real person sat down and created something just for the joy of making it.

Mass-produced stuff is designed to be forgotten. Handmade pieces are designed to be kept.

Three things I've learned from years of crafting:

  1. Materials matter more than technique. Good materials can save an average design. Bad materials will ruin even the best one.

  2. Every piece teaches you something. My first 50 pieces were terrible. My last 50 were some of my best work. The only difference was I kept going.

  3. People don't buy crafts — they buy stories. The piece on your shelf means more when you know who made it and why.

If you're a fellow craft lover or collector, come hang out. I share new work, process shots, and the occasional honest take on the craft world.

See you inside. 🪡
